About This Website:
As it says in the header, I’m currently redeveloping this site. It used to be a ‘static’ website with a few pages outlining the training and consultancy services I’ve offered. However, I’m experimenting with creating a blog and exploring the possibility of refocusing my business around just one specific subject – helping other people learn how to become a professional consultant.
Why? Because I’ve been there, done it, worn out the tee-shirt, and think it’s time to shift from doing it to teaching others how to do it.
A Bit About Me Now:
For the past 12 years I’ve worked as a self-employed management trainer and consultant. (You can find out more about some projects I’ve recently delivered by checking out my LinkedIn profile.) Most of my work has focused on project management, change management and organisational development. It’s been interesting – and challenging at times.
Lately, I’ve invested a lot of time in learning about online training and am looking to move from teaching in the classroom to teaching online. And instead of travelling around to deliver consultancy to various organisations I’d prefer to spend more time working from home.
A Bit About My Past:
OK, for those who are curious about my personal journey, here’s a potted life history…
I grew up on a farm in Somerset. As a youngster I was passionate about motorcycles. I’ve owned over thirty and used to race them in my spare time. In 1981 I won the South West Grasstrack championship on a 500cc Godden Weslake. Here’s a picture of me powering sideways into a corner on a muddy track…

In the 80s I toured Europe by motorcycle a couple of times. There was one time I remember waking up very, very cold. It was dark when I’d pitched my tent on the edge of a desolate campsite. On crawling out of the tent in the morning I found the ground frozen solid. I’d camped just below the snow line way up in the Pyrenees. Don’t think I’ll be doing that again too quickly…
My love of motorcycles stayed with me and I recently built a Honda CB750 ‘cafe racer’. The pictures below show before and after shots. It probably illustrates my passion to fix and improve things…

Life progressed and I ended up managing teams of mechanics, then teaching my trade to others. After that I got into managing training programmes for Colleges, a Chamber of Commerce, a University and a Council, focusing increasingly on leadership and management development. Along the way I picked up an MSc in Management Development and worked with hundreds of people to help them lead and manage others better. If you’ve been one of them, thanks, I’ve enjoyed working with you.
Because my parents owned their own business it seemed natural to go self-employed. For a couple of years I worked alongside Business Link supporting small and growing businesses with my Strategic Marketing Masterclasses and Business Growth Mastermind Groups. Again, if you took part in one of these, thanks, I hope you’re still growing your businesses.
Over the past 30 years I’ve given a lot of time to thinking about life. Lately I’ve been reminded that my time on earth is limited – I’m not fatalistic, just realistic. Some time ago I ‘made my peace with God’, served in a number of churches and ended up as an ordained church minister. (Yep, so technically I’m a ‘Rev’.) However, during that time I’ve also stayed working out in the real world. Along the way I’ve seen the value of Life Coaching and also ended up gaining an Advanced Diploma in Life Coaching.
During my life I’ve met a lot of people out there who have struggled to make sense of life. As a pastor and coach I’ve sought to support and walk alongside them in their journey. Realising I could probably help more people if I put what I knew in a book, I thought I’d try to develop my writing skills. The result? I ended up gaining an MA in Professional Writing. (As you can see, I’m addicted to learning.) So far nearly 3,000 people have downloaded a copy of my book. It’s available on Amazon and you can find it by clicking on the ‘Life Purpose Book’ links below:

So that’s the story so far – but I don’t believe it’s over yet. I’ll be updating this website as things progress. In the meantime, if you want to get in touch the best way is to send me an email via my contact page…
Thanks for stopping by,
